To write a book for a year is a feasible goal
To write a book in the fixation genre, the volume of 90 thousand words, it takes a year. On the chart 46 weeks - the work itself, and 6 weeks falls on: force majeure, vacation, malaise, bouts of procrastination or other independent causes. Writing a full-length script takes as much time. And here the main question arises. Are you ready to invest so much time in the project? In addition, beginners are in doubt: who will read this, will the publisher take the book, what if it doesn’t work out and I’ll leave the race? I advise you to start with short stories, and scriptwriters. If there are no ideas for stories, let the same characters from a future novel take part in short stories. This experience will help to better understand the characters and pump over the writer's muscle. For example, Michael Suenwick (Vacuum Flowers, Tide Path, Iron Dragon Daughter) began his work with stories. He could not write a novel. There were no ideas. On the advice of friends, he took as a basis the story “Kiss of Mummer”, wrote several more interconnected stories, and as a result, the novel “In the Release Zone” appeared. The novel did not become popular, but the writer overcame the psychological barrier.
In future posts I will tell in more detail about each stage of work on the work.
